Parish Hall Renovated At Ypsilanti

YPSILANTI — A $110,OOQ renovation project is under way on the parish hall of St. John’s Catholic Church in Ypsilanti.

The renovation has involved new coat and bridal rooms, new foyer, new lounges and a new entrance to the parish hall from the outside of the church located at 410 W. Cross St.

Also, the hall now has a new plumbing system and it is hoped the system will prevent flooding problems of the past, according to the Rev. David Harvey, pastor of the church.

Some kind of protective floor covering is yet planned. The walls have been redone as well as the ceiling, which now has the beams exposed. New lavatories are also part of the renovation and the stage area has been removed to expand the area of the hall.

A new kitchen also is planned in the future, perhaps by this spring. The hall should be finished this month.

The project is being accomplished through special donations and bequests, said Fr. Harvey.

The parish hall will be used almost every night for various events, said the priest. They include senior citizens activities, private receptions and prayer meetings.

The local Saladino Construction Co. was the general contractor for the first phase of the renovation, which included the plumbing. Robert Gillman and Donald Randazzo have handled phase two. Dave Wheeler did electrical design work, A1 Walters, the heating and air system, and James Wong was architect.
