F. J. Williams Dies;

Former Supervisor

A memorial service is being planned for former county Supervisor Fred J. Williams.

Mr. Williams, 82, died Thursday at the Parkview Extended Care and Convalescent Center in Ypsilanti following a long illness.

His home address was 111 N. First St.

He was appointed to the old county Board of Supervisors in 1934. He served the City of Ann Arbor and the county in that capacity until 1954.

Until his retirement in 1968, Mr. Williams was owner and operator of the Williams Welding Shop on First Street from 1921.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Ann Arbor, Mr. Williams was also a life member of St. Johns Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, Hamilton, Ont.

In addition, Mr. Williams was a life member and past monarch, in 1933, of the Zal Gaz Grotto No. 34.

He is survived by his widow, Ida Pearl; two sons, John R. Williams of Ann Arbor and Fredrick R. Williams of Pinckney; a brother, Bert Williams of Niagara Falls, Ont.; ten grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Williams’ name can be made to the Enchanted Lantern Fund for Crippled Children at the Zal Gaz Grotto, 2070 W. Stadium Blvd.

Cremation has taken place.
