Age 53, died Sunday, December 7, 1975 at his home after several month's illness. He was born November 2, 1922 in Ann Arbor, the son of Edwin and Elsie Copp Wier. Mr. Wier had been a resident of Ann Arbor his entire life. On August 28, 1948, he married Betty Gearhart. Mr. Wier had been a member of the Ann Arbor Rifle Club; the American Legion - Dexter Post; the Colonial Junior House Bowling Lane, bowling for Chet's Service; the Elk's Lodge No. 325; a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army. He owned and operated Weir's Gun Shot for 30 years and was recently employed by Sarns, Inc. for two years. Survivors include: his wife; one son, Ed Wier; one daughter, Peggy Wier, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Elsie Wier of Ann Arbor; one brother, Elwin C. of Ann Arbor; two aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Wohlwend of Ann Arbor, Mr. and Mrs. Rha Alexander of Chelsea; two nephews and nieces, Mr. and Mrs. Elwin C. Wier of Ann Arbor, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Wier of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters and brother-in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Wes Mida of Ypsilanti, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Binswanger of Ypsilanti, Miss Jeanne Gearhart of Laguna Beach, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Greigereit officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery in Chelsea. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Cancer Fund, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, c/o Dr. John Nixon or the Ann Arbor Rifle Club. Graveside military services will be conducted by American Legion Post 282 of Ypsilanti, Elk's Lodge of Sorrow at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel. Friends may call at the chapel beginning at 7 p.m. tonight until noon on Wednesday.
