Physical Evidence Found In Slaying
Washtenaw County Sheriff Fred Postill said today new physical evidence has been found in the continuing investigation of the murder of Manchester attorney Peter A. Kensler.
However, Postill refused to confirm or deny a report that the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department found at least two boxes of shotgun shells two to three miles from Kensler’s home.
Reportedly, one of the boxes was minus four shells, Sheriff’s Police said Kensler died of one gunshout wound to the head, but said more than one shell casing was found at the scene.
Postill said he would have no comment on the finding of any evidence until next week. The evidence was sent to the Michgian State Police Crime Lab in Lansing.
Monday, Sheriff’s Police said they had uncovered new leads to support one theory for the slaying while going through Kensler’s personal papers.
Police refused to comment on what these leads might be or what theory of the crime they are working with.
Kensler, 36, was found slain in the front yard of his Manchester home Feb. 4. Police said he had been shot to death sometime around 5:30 p.m. the preceeding evening.
