Appointed
Gwendolyn C. Baker, assistant professor and former chairwoman of multi-cultural program in the U-M School of Education, has been named director of Affirmative Action Programs at U-M. She will succeed Nellie M. Varner who now is associate dean of the U-M Graduate School. Baker's new appointment becomes effective July 1. Until then William L. Cash Jr., assistant to the U-M president, will serve as acting director of Affirmative Action Programs.
