Major, Bertha M.
233 S. Seventh St.
Age 86, died Sunday, March 15, 1981, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born November 23, 1894 in Van Wert County, Ohio, the daughter of John and Nancy Dias. Mrs. Major had been a resident of Ann Arbor since 1929. She was married to Jess Ward, who preceded her in death in 1933. In 1939 she was married to Charles H. Major, and he died in 1963. Mrs. Major was a member of the Bethlehem United Church of Christ and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Church. She was a member of the MOMS Club, World War II. Survivors included: Two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Betty) Rossbach of Statesville, North Carolina and Mrs. Frank (Margaret) Meyers of Hudson, Florida; two sons, Edward E. Ward of Ypsilanti and Jack J. Ward of Taylor, Michigan; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Raymond R. and Irvin H Ward. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Orval L. E. Willimann officiating. Burial will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park. Memorial Contibutions may be made to the Bethlehem Church. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight and also tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
