Dunlap, Alexander Dwight (Dee)

Age 74, died suddenly Saturday, October 17, 1981, at the University Hospital. He was born October 10, 1907 in Blackstone, Illinois, the son of Alexander E. and Ida Lower Dunlap. Mr Dunlap had been a resident of Ann Arbor since 1917. He was married to Helen Doris Ziefle, August 22, 1942, she preceded him in death March 8, 1972. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Dunlap worked for the Ann Arbor Construction Co. and was later employed at the Main Party Store until last year. Mr. Dunlap was a member of the Ann Arbor Elks Lodge No. 325. He served as lieutenant in the navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Dunlap was an all conference running back for the Hillsdale College football team, graduating with the class of 1933. Survivors include: three sons, William J. of Saline, James D. and Grant A. of Ann Arbor; four grandchildren; one brother Wayne Dunlap of Northport, Michigan; two sisters, Mrs. Leslie (Ann) Butler of Lansing and Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Long of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Muehlig Chapel with the Rev. Fred B. Maitland officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cardiac Unit at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. The family will receive friends at the Muehlig Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening.
