Life Drawing Class
Jean Kluge, kindergarten teacher at Ann Arbor's Bach Elementary School, likes animals and often finds them effective teaching tools in her classroom. She brings in a lamb in the spring and other animals of her own throughout the year. For the last few years, sometime around Thanksgiving, she's borrowed a turkey from a friend who raises them on a farm near Dexter.
But this year, the turkey's visit proved particularly useful. The Bach Student Council sponsored a turkey drawing contest for all the students in the school, and the students in Kluge's class had the advantage of a live model to work from.
The turkey, who arrived at the start of class Friday morning, proved surprisingly cooperative, posing for the budding young artists for the better part of an hour.
