Ostafin, Dr. Peter A.

Age 75, died suddenly, January 31, 1984 at the University Hospital. He was born October 6, 1908 in Easthampton, Mass. the son of Andrzej and Pawlina (Swider) Ostafin. On December 22, 1941 he was married to Eleanor Hubert in Ann Arbor; she survives. Dr. Ostafin was a graduate of Dartmouth College in 1932, he received his Ph.D. in 1948 in sociology from the University of Michigan. Dr. Ostafin had taught at St. Mary's College in Orchard Lake and at the U of M Department of Sociology. He was later a resident advisor and administrator in the Student Housing Office. Retiring in 1979, he continued to remain involved especially with the Copernicus Endowment at the University. Dr. Ostafin was active in Polonia affairs in Ann Arbor and statewide. Surviving, in addition to his wife are two daughters, Dr. Elisa Anne Ostafin and Marysia H. Ostafin, both of Ann Arbor; one sister, Veronica Kowal of Easthampton, Mass. There will be no visitation. Service arrangements are incomplete at this time.
