Age 70, died suddenly at Beyer Memorial Hospital, Tuesday, June 5, 1984. She was born May 22, 1914 in New York City the daughter of Harold D. and Katherine E. (MacMillan) Holden. She came to Ann Arbor in 1932 and graduated from the University of Michigan in February 1937. She married Edwin L. "Bud" Abbott on March 19, 1937 in Kalamazoo, Michigan and he survives. Helen was a Librarian at Ypsilanti Public Library from 1957 until she retired in 1979. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. Survivors besides her husband include one son, John N. (Carol Ann) Abbott of Garden Grove, Calif. and one daughter, Mrs. Michael P. (Katherine) Kearns of Laconia, New Hampshire; one grandson, Michael J. Abbott and two granddaughters, Michelle and Kelly Kearns. Funeral service will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Moore Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Vivan Martindale of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park. Those desiring may make contributions to Ypsilanti Public Library to a memorial fund in her name at Moore Memorial Chapel where friends may call after 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.
