Anderson, James William

885 Starwick, Ann Arbor

Age 71, died Monday, November 4, 1985 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Born in Due West, S. Carolina on October 17, 1914 son of the late Albert and Mattie (Hawthorne) Anderson. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, he was a trustee of the church for 46 years, a member of the male chorus of the Willis C. Patterson Chorale. Mr. Anderson retired from the Ann Arbor Public School System in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Christine Anderson; three sons, James W. Anderson Jr. of Ann Arbor, Wallace E. Anderson of Detroit, Mich. and Phillip Anderson of Wayne, Mich.; one daughter, Penelope Anderson of Washington D.C.; three brothers, Howard Anderson of Denver, Colo., Frank Anderson of Detroit, Mich. and Albert Anderson, Jr. of Hawaii; one sister, Mrs. Virginia Williams of Due West, S. Carolina; eight grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. One daughter, Juanita Bruce preceded him in death in 1972. Funeral 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 1985 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 900 Plum St., Ann Arbor with Rev. John A. Woods officiating. Burial will follow in United Memorial Gardens. Visitation at the church Wednesday 6-9 p.m. where the family will receive friends at the church from 7-8 p.m. Contributions may be made to Bethel A.M.E. Church.
