Age 78, died Wednesday, March 13, 1991 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital following a brief illness. She was born August 6, 1912 in New Haven, CT, the daughter of Edward and Viola (White) Goin. She was a former resident of Hampton, VA moving to Ann Arbor in 1982. In 1938 she was married to Edward N. Palmer, and he preceded her in death in 1956. Mrs. Palmer graduated from the University of Michigan in 1936. She had been a professor of Microbiology at Hampton University in Hampton, VA for 30 years. She was a member of the N.A.A.C.P. and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Survivors include three daughters, Viola Palmer of Detroit, Ann Holsey of Ann Arbor and Sue Dishmon of Ann Arbor; three grandchildren, Alaiyo Bradshaw of New York City, Carl Holsey of Tuskegee University, AL and Mark Holsey of Ann Arbor; one brother, Douglass Murray of Stamford, CT. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Edward. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 16, 1991, 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church with the Rev. Dr. Timothy Crowley, Celebrant. Burial will take place in Hampton University Cemetery, Hampton, VA. Memorial tributes may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends at the MUEHLIG CHAPEL Saturday, from 12 Noon until the hour of Mass.
