Lt. Col. William A. Henderson of Ypsilanti, commander of the Michigan Air National Guard headquarters in Lansing, has been promoted to colonel. Henderson has an extensive record in the armed forces, including 125 combat missions as a U.S. Marine Corps pilot in Southeast Asia. He received two Distinguished Flying Crosses and eight Air Medals. He is employed as an executive pilot with General Motors, serving as captain since 1974. Henderson graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1960 and earned a BS degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1964, majoring in sociology and history.
