Flower show meets attendance goal
The Ann Arbor Flower and Garden show ended Sunday as a blooming success. The event met its goal of 20,000 attendees over four days, said Patricia Hopkinson, acting director at Matthaei Botanical Gardens, this morning before she headed out the door to help tear down displays at the show site in Saline. Attendees seemed more than happy with the new, roomy site, she said. “Since we really bit the dust last year (with disappointing attendance), it was really hard to get going again,” she said. “It’s a nice lesson that if you just apply yourself, you can succeed.” Next year, organizers will put up a bit more insulation in the barns and around doors to keep out the cold.
