Age 71, died Wednesday, May 5, 1993 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Detroit, MI on February 5, 1922, a son of Laurin R. and Delia Smith Hunter. Mr. Hunter had been an Ann Arbor resident since 1936. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Air Corps in England and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters. As a Major, he also served during the Korean War. Mr. Hunter attended a number of schools and graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Architectural Engineering. On December 22, 1946, he married Jewel "Jeff" Freeman in Lake Placid, N.Y., and she survives. Mr. Hunter was President of Porcelain Building Products and, for 31 years, an Ann Arbor Township Trustee. He assisted with the planning of Camp Linden for the Girl Scouts and was a member of the Ann Arbor Rotary Club, the Waterloo Hunt Club, Barton Hills Country Club, the Ann Arbor Golf and Outing Club, the Ann Arbor Club and the Vice Presidents Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, Constance H. (John) Belda and John "Jock" C. Hunter, Jr., both of CA; one grandchild, Lauren C. Belda; a sister, Molly (William) Dobson of Ann Arbor; a brother, Dr. Stephen A. Hunter of San Francisco, CA; and a host of friends. Cremation has taken place. Following private graveside services at Botsford Cemetery, a memorial service will be held Monday, May 10 at 2 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Lindvall officiating. Friends may call at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel on Saturday from 3-5 p.m. and at the Hunter residence on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. Memorial tributes may be made to the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, 121 E.
