Bowsher, Kent Dexter, MI Age 89, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 30, 1997 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. Born in Lima, OH on January 7, 1908 he was the son of Daniel A. Bowsher and Tessie Rusler Bowsher. On December 23, 1937 he married Jane Shephard, who preceded him in death in 1956. In 1938 he graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master's degree in Education, after which he became a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Survivors include his son, Timothy Kent (Sharon) Bowsher; and two beloved grandsons, Johnathon and Matthew Bowsher. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Myers of Racine, WI as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1973, after teaching in the Ann Arbor Public School system for several years. For over 30 years he was a devoted member of the Ann Arbor Evening Lions Club, serving in many executive positions. In 1993 he received the Lion's Clubs highest honor - the coveted Melvin Jones Fellow Award - of which he was very proud. In 1972, he along with good friends, Greta Staebler and Virginia Schlemmer founded the Ann Arbor Leader Dog Puppy Club; a joint project of the Lions Club and 4H to raise and train puppies for leader dog training at the Rochester Leader Dog School For The Blind. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was the Boshwer family historian and genealogists, and belonged to the Cridersville, Ohio Historical Society. He will be missed for his service, dedication and love. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel on Sunday, February 2 from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in Cridersville, OH on Sunday, February 9, at 2 p.m. at the Bayliff Funeral Home. Burial will take place at St. Matthew Cemetery in Cridersville.
