Crabtree, Janet Faith
Ann Arbor, MI
Age 79, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at Whitehall Convalescent Center, where she had resided for the past two years. She was born August 30, 1918 in Flint, MI, to Russell and Sarah Amelia (Bendall) Denison. Mrs. Crabtree was active in many social service organizations in Washtenaw County over the years, especially as founding director of the House by the Side of The Road and as a member of the boards of SAFE House and Arbor Haven. She was also a supporter of early efforts to provide services for persons with HIV/AIDS that became what is now the HIV/AIDS Resource Center. A long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor, she served for many years as chair of local emergency relief efforts at the church. Her partner in life and service was her husband, Raymond, who preceded her in death in 1995. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Jane Crabtree of Ann Arbor. She is survived by one sister, Jacqueline Pacific, of Pontiac; two children, Lloyd (Marcia) Crabtree of Ridgecrest, CA, and Jill (Bill Feiser) Crabtree of Ann Arbor; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at MUEHLIG CHAPEL on Friday, May 22, at 1 p.m. Rev. Alfred Bamsey will officiate. Burial will follow at Washtenong Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11:30 until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to any of the above named charitable organizations.
