' Scio Church Road seems to be living up to its name, what with

~§ is .The Lodi Township Planning Commission approved the church’s
_preliminary site plan and special use permit last week for a new
' "church to be built on a 10-acre parcel on Scio Church across from
>~Rosemallow Drive. The new church will be next to Knox Evangeli-
cal Presbyterian Church, a few doors down from Ann Arbor Bap-
_ .tist Church and a short distance fromiShekinah‘Christian Churchl it ‘
~ 3Michael Challis, a building committee member, said the new
church will accommodate St. Nicholas’ growing congregation,
which numbers about 600. The new church will hold about 400 peo-
ple, up from the 220 in the church on North Main. Challis said the
10-acre site for.the new church has been donated by a parishioner.
#The Township Board must still approve the church’s special-use
permit and preliminary site plan. Challis said church officials hope
fo” break ground early in 2001 and complete the new building within
two years. A
