Butler, Joan Margaret
Ann Arbor, MI
Age 60, died at her home, Wednesday, September 27, 2000. She was born on July 19, 1940 in Detroit, the daughter of Wilfred and Clara (Rathnaw) Butler. Joan graduated from the University of Wisconsin with Masters degrees in both History and Library Science. Moving to Ann Arbor in 1981, she worked at the University of Michigan Library and was also a member of the American Library Assoc. Survivors include her brother, Paul (Sandra) Butler of Dearborn, MI; two sisters, Grace (Lyle) Shaver of Blue Springs, MO and Laura (Robert) Dunbar of Fowlerville, MI; her niece, Suzanne Butler; and her five nephews, John Leonard, Kenneth and Mark Shaver, and Ben and Ed Dunbar. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfred and Clara Butler. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the University Library and/or Arbor Hospice. Envelopes are available at the NIE FUNERAL HOME, 2400 Carpenter Rd., where the family will receive friends 3-8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon, Monday, October 2, 2000 at the funeral home, with burial at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Mt. Clemens, MI.
