Palmer, Esther E.
Clinton, MI
Age 96, passed away Tuesday evening, September 26, 2000. She was born on November 10, 1903 in Sharon Twp., MI, the daughter of Herman and Katherine (Kuhl) Tirb. Esther was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Church in Sharon Twp, and attended the German School. On September 10, 1926, she was married to James E. Palmer, who preceded her in death on November 15, 1980. They celebrated their golden anniversary in 1976. Mrs. Palmer was a lifelong resident of the Manchester area, moving to Clinton in 1981. Surviving are her daughters, Anna M. (Eugene) Murphy, Mary A. (George) Monkman, both of Clinton. Arlene E. Morris of Lompac, CA and Betty L. Otto of Ann Arbor; her grandsons; John (Ronica) Otto of Grandville, MI, Leo E. (Pamela) Otto of Ann Arbor, Gerald (Cheryl) Otto of Sterling Heights, MI and Walter J. (Annette) Murphy of Clinton; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; a granddaughter, Connie Desbrough on August 2, 1997; and two sisters, Addie Gross and Emma Mahle. Mrs. Palmer had worked in the Clinton Woolen Mill and retired from University of Michigan in 1974. She enjoyed reading, tatting and crocheting. Memorial tributes may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society or to the Darlington Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at the NIE FUNERAL HOME, 2400 Carpenter Rd., where the family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Nie Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Zill officiating. Burial will follow in the Washtenong Memorial Park.
