Kerrytown Bistro serving last sumptuous supper Jan. 29
If you’re planning to visit Kerrytown Bistro, do it by Feb. 2, because after that, it’ll be closed.
Steve and Mercy Kasle have operated the restaurant for a partnership led by Ronald Cresswell, former head of Pfizer research labs in Ann Arbor. However, they’ve been unable to negotiate a long-term lease with Joe O’Neal, general partner and president of Kerrytown.
According to the Kasles, they took over as restaurant managers in October 2001, moving the restaurant from red ink to black. They would like to continue but say their space at the north end of Kerrytown has been leased to another restaurant.
As part of closing, the Kasles will host a Best of the Bistro dinner Jan. 29 - and yes, the wine will be French.
The Kasles are attempting to reach gift certificate holders before closing, as they are honoring certificates or returning 100 percent of their value.
Founded 14 years ago, the Bistro’s been known for French provincial food - crepes, cassoulet, creme brulee - but has seen a stream of managerial changes.
It’s not clear what will follow the Bistro. O’Neal says he doesn’t yet know.
