Beuhler, Mary Reichert
Ann Arbor, Michigan

Mary Louise Reichert Beuhler, age 83, died at home on March 10, 2006 following a long illness. She was born June 30, 1922 to Rudolph E. and Christine John Reichert in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She attended Ann Arbor public schools and graduated from University High School in 1940 and the University of Michigan 4 years later. Following graduation, she worked for the Penn Central Airlines, predecessor of United Airlines, where her assignments took her to New York City, Norfolk, VA and Washington, D. C.. In June of 1947, Mary married her high school classmate, Ralph Beuhler, upon his graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. The young couple lived in a number of places in the course of Ralph’s career but were Ann Arbor residents for most of their married lives. Ever-concerned about the well-being of her community and her alma maters, Mary served as past president of the Ann Arbor Thrift Shop and the Conger Alumnae Group. Additionally, she was active in the Delta Gamma Alumnae Association, the Visiting Nurse Association, Motor Meals and The Book and Thimble Club. She assisted in fund-raising for the University of Michigan, the March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society. Throughout the years, Mary’s life was enriched by precious family members, devoted friends, reading, domestic and foreign travel, gardens bright with flowers, carefree winter days with friends in Florida and summer house parties at Higgins Lake, Michigan. She will long be remembered for the many University High School reunions she and her husband master-minded as well as the elegant dinner parties they hosted. Mary is survived by her husband, Ralph; three children, Ralph, Jr. of Baroda, MI, John E. (Allyson) of Woodridge, IL and Elizabeth Mary of South Lyon, MI; grandchildren George and Christine Beuhler of Woodridge; brother Rudolph E. Reichert, Jr. of Ann Arbor; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Margaret Reichert Klose. There will be a celebration of Mary’s life at Glacier Hills Retirements Community (1200 Earhart Road) in the Kaye Hanson Room at 11 am on Saturday, March 18, 2006. Friends wanting to visit with the family are invited to come before the service or to remain afterwards for a reception. At this time, the Beuhler family wishes to acknowledge the loving care provided by Mary Lou Rudner, St. Joseph Mercy Hospice, Linda Rucker and her associated as well as Mary’s many good friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peace Neighborhood Center, 1111 N. Maple, Ann Arbor, MI 48103; Planned Parenthood, 3100 Professional Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48104; or St. Joseph Mercy Hospice, 806 Airport Boulevard, Ann Arbor, MI 48108.
