Council approves land purchase

After months of negotiation, the City of Ann Arbor will pay $2.24 million to purchase Camp Hilltop from the Girl Scouts of Huron Valley.

The purchase, which will come out of the city’s greenbelt millage money, was approved Thursday by the City Council. It’s by far the most expensive acquisition of land within the city by the green-belt program.

The 7.7-acre camp off Huron River Drive, near where it intersects with North Main Street, is close to the several city’s parks, such as Barton Nature Area and Bird Hills Nature Area.
