Requesting Materials from AADL's Archives
Looking for an Ann Arbor News article or photo?
Do you remember an article or photo that appeared in the local newspaper but you don’t have a copy? Are you curious whether a specific person, event, or business was featured in the Ann Arbor News?
Step 1. Search AADL’s Local History Collections
Search AADL’s Local History collections to see whether the article or photo appears online.
Learn how to search AADL’s Archives.
Only a portion of AADL’s archival holdings have been scanned and put on our website, so the resources you are looking for may not appear in a Local History search. Move on to Step 2!
Step 2. Request materials
Requesting materials is as easy as sending an email to AADL Archives staff! Email archives@aadl.org with as much information as possible:
- Article title or topic
- Description of photo
- Date (approximate is okay)
- Name of anyone featured
Not every article or photo that appeared in the Ann Arbor News is available for scanning, but if we can locate it we will be happy to add it to our website and share it with you.
Larger requests will take more time to complete. AADL staff will work with you to identify the most relevant materials.
Looking for an obituary?
To request an obituary for the greater Ann Arbor area, email the Ann Arbor District Library Archives at archives@aadl.org. Staff will conduct a search and contact you with any results.
