Description

"The pervading spirit that infuses the library with inspiration and knowledge"

PARADIGM is a group of 18 artists from southeast Michigan who are dedicated to the concept of quilt as art. Most are professional artists, teaching, lecturing, exhibiting, and/or selling their work. Although most of the art is textile based, the membership uses many techniques in it's production. The work ranges from what is easily recognized as a quilt, to assemblage, sculpture, and dolls. Members meet regularly to share ideas, critique each other's work and organize group projects and exhibitions.

This quilt was commissioned by the Ann Arbor Public Library for display in the main reading room. The project was under the direction of Pat Ingersoll of Ann Arbor, who designed the pieces and managed the construction. She was assisted by Mary Andrews, Jill Ault, Mary Bajcz, Debra Danko, Mary Gentry, Donna Hamilton, Sue Holdaway-Heys, Gretchen Jackson, Barbara Kilbourn, Garland Lewis, Laura Seligman, and Carol Wineman.
