Build the BITDRAGON!

by eli

Maker Faire Detroit 2010 was a huge success, and your Ann Arbor District Library was part of it! Starting at the Ann Arbor Mini Maker Faire back in June, then continuing through programs at the Library and then at the Maker City Faire at The Henry Ford July 31st and August 1st, the BITDRAGON grew to be over 170 gallons long, with 34 5-gallon buckets decorated by kids and adults using scrap, CDs, and pop rivets!

The BITDRAGON was then paraded through Maker Faire powered by kids and adults who had helped to build it, where we attacked the cardboard castle of our good friends from All Hands Active, and won a total of 3 Editor's Choice Blue Ribbons from the Maker Faire Judges!

The first few segments of the BITDRAGON are now on display behind the youth desk at the downtown library, but I'll bet you'll see him back out when Festifools rolls around next April, and when Maker Faire comes back to Michigan next summer! Scroll on for some photos of the BITDRAGON in action, taken at Maker Faire by Superpatron Elan Lange! Thanks to all who helped make the BITDRAGON and Maker Faire such a big success for AADL and for the SE Michigan region. Now get out there and make something!
