What's the difference between a request and a booking?
Placing a request on a tool is the equivalent of standing in line for the tool; you'll get the tool as soon as your turn in line comes up! A booking, on the other hand, is when you reserve a tool for a certain date.
How does it work?
You must be logged into your AADL account and have an active library card attached to start making a booking. Eligible tools will have a "Book This Tool" button at the far right of the tool's page, and appear on the list on this page. Click this button to start making your booking! Once your booking is submitted, you will receive a confirmation message and email. AADL will take care of everything necessary to get your tools ready for you.
Is there a limit on the number of items I can book?
You can book up to three copies of each item; so one booking could consist of three Mega Tumble Towers AND three Giant Checkers.
How long can I borrow a booked Tool?
You can borrow your booked tool for up to one week.
Is there any fee to book a Tool?
There are no fees for bookings, but you may be charged $25 per day if you don't bring back your items by the last day of your booking, so that the next patron will be able to pick up their booking on time.
Where and when do I pick up and return my booking?
Tools Bookings can only be picked up from and returned to the Downtown library. Please pick up your Tools Booking the day your booking starts. We will keep it available for pick up one additional day after your start date. After that, your booking will be canceled. They are due back on the last day of your booking.
What are the date constraints on bookings?
A booking can be placed one week out from the current date. Bookings cannot be placed further than 6 months in advance.
Can I look at my booking after I make it?
Yes! We will send you a confirmation email with the dates and items you requested. You can also look at your bookings on your My Account page. Look for Tool Bookings under the My Bookings header.
