An OK Book submitted by tshish on August 11, 2014, 7:36pm An OK book, but kind of confusing in the first part of it.

A Story of Found Family submitted by Maria Maguire on June 21, 2018, 11:24am I picked up this book because the premise was so intriguing to me - 12 year olds covering up a death and running vacation cottages? I'm glad I read it.

To me, this was a slightly fantastical story (you can only keep a death covered up so long...) with very real characters. Stella is young but able to run a house on her own, a result of her often negligent mother, and this is what helps them survive so long. The relationship she and Angel have grows over the course of the novel, and by the end these two strangers are practically family. I also loved that, along with the girls, we learn more about Louise after her death.

I think this is a great story showing kids that even if the family we are born into isn't able to take care of you (whether through death or not being suited to be a parent), there are still people who will care for you and you can find your own family.
