Several animals sleep snugly in Nicki's lost mitten until the bear sneezes.
COMMUNITY REVIEWS
good book submitted by ginnyb60 on July 12, 2014, 7:51am This is a wonderfully typical Jan Brett creation containing beautiful, colorful, detailed illustrations and a delightful story line. Jan takes advantage of Ukrainian folklore for the story. I recommend this book.
How much can one mitten stretch?? submitted by camelsamba on August 3, 2014, 10:35pm Jan Brett's wonderful art adds humor to this adaptation of a Ukrainian folk tale. As you read it aloud to your child, point out how the illustrations along the edges show what Nicki is doing during the story, and also foreshadow what will happen on the next page (up until the explosive climax, which is rather hard to predict if you aren't familiar with the convention of this tale). Help them learn to predict what will happen next!
Love submitted by Whitetnchina on August 30, 2016, 8:41am One of our favorite family tales. The kids curl up for hours to this book!

Beautiful submitted by GSchne on July 23, 2022, 9:00pm For me, anything illustrated by Jan Brett is worth looking at. This one's no different.
Jan Brett Classic submitted by Kitty4777 on July 10, 2023, 10:01am We love Jan Brett in this household! I didn’t realize that this was a Ukrainian folktale originally! How cool.
