"A soulful polemic that challenges the sacred dogma of the digital age--that the more we connect with others, the happier we are--arguing that as our electronic connectedness grows, we are pulled away from the relationships and experiences that give life texture, depth, and meaning"-- Provided by publisher.

only disconnect submitted by edwardvielmetti on June 23, 2011, 10:17am By "soulful polemic", the reviewer means "extended musings on history, with a little bit of Internet mixed in for current context". I skipped around in the book until I found the one chapter that was really worth reading, "Disconnectopia", in which the author writes of his family's successful decision to turn its modem off one day a week and observe an "Internet Sabbath". A good book to read and return in one sitting.
