Cook spices and onions separately submitted by willow on August 26, 2016, 5:54am In contrast to crock pot recipes from another era, the author of this book is determined not to throw raw spices, onions, meat, and veges into a cold cooking vessel with water, return 8 hours later, and call it dinner. She precooks and browns an onion base for recipes requiring them, or adds spices popped in hot oil. This is a slim book with a range of recipes, not an encyclopedia.
