Lorien Legacies submitted by Caser on November 9, 2010, 7:51pm This will likely make a pretty decent action flick when it comes out next year, and with Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg behind the production, the action sequences should be great. I wouldn't expect much out of the script though. New actor, Pettyfer, will be all over the magazines, and he should fit the role well. But as a book, the plot is mostly predictable and the characters are totally flat and cliche. The story is entertaining enough to hold the reader's interest, even with its considerable length. The language is very very easy for Teen Fiction, making it a very good candidate for reluctant boy readers in 6-8th grade especially.

Not Living Up submitted by marshd on March 14, 2011, 6:25pm I read about three chapters and found this to be predictable and lackluster. I didn't get past page 85 because I could not take the repetitive short, simple sentence structure.

If you want an easy read, this would be perfect. However, if you find simplicity dull, I wouldn't recommend it.

Great submitted by mysterio on June 18, 2011, 1:06pm I have high expectations for this movie.

lorien submitted by michalowski529 on July 10, 2011, 11:02am way better than the movie. pattacus lore takes john life and makes a conenction with the reader

Good submitted by ColeenT on July 12, 2011, 3:08pm It was okay,

Great! submitted by Misty47 on July 28, 2011, 1:53pm I loved this book. The action in the beginning of the book lead to reading more. It was kind of predictable though.

I am NEED an editor submitted by ferdoble on July 31, 2011, 3:57pm The story is gripping. I didn’t want to put it down, so that I could find out what happened, however there were definitely some problems with it as well. Things that will annoy you in the extreme.

Several time throughout the book there was phrasing that was so garbled and incoherent that no matter how many times I reread the passage I couldn’t make sense of it. like the author was trying to be cleaver with their writing instead of telling the story.

You will also be extremely frustrated with the fighting in the book. Some of the characters are essentially described as supper man (with extra cool powers) and then they all but get their asses handed to them by normal people. Then they get there asses handed to them by aliens with no actual powers, with little or no explication as to how.

The main character is in a fight to the death and while he has no problem killing the people he is supposed to, he doesn’t do so when he can. INFURIATING. Just infuriating.

Great, Just awesome submitted by xjasx on June 17, 2012, 11:45pm One of my top ten books definitely. I loved the first book, still havent read the power of six though I definitely should. The movie kinda sucked though sadly

Great! submitted by tong on July 20, 2012, 12:57pm I really enjoyed this book. It was exciting, and I loved it!

Favorite submitted by orangeypie on July 28, 2013, 6:37pm This is my new favorite book!

One of the best books I've ever read submitted by timothydkao on December 16, 2013, 10:06pm My friend read this book and suggested it to me. I could not put it down. It is a wonderful one-of-a-kind sci-fi/adventure book. Don't stop writing Pitticus Lore!!!

This Is the Best Book Ever!!! submitted by Susanna Brown on July 18, 2014, 3:40pm I thought this book was great. I think it was scary and sad at the end. Six showed up just in time. I also wonder why the author put himself in the book? I think Sam was a pretty cool guy. This was a great book. Anyone who likes action and battle should read this.

Incredible submitted by kzheng on June 15, 2015, 2:33pm The story moves fast, dragging the readers along. John, a alien from the planet of Lorien must receive and train his powers. He must also not be killed, for he is the next in line to be killed.

Alright submitted by c_zhang on June 27, 2019, 10:41pm It was fast-paced, but not my favorite. There's a lot of plot armor and continuity issues, especially with power levels of certain characters.

great book submitted by acgottfr on July 23, 2019, 8:52pm my friend recommended this book to me and I read it and loved it. It is a great book and a great series. i would recommend it to 4th graders and up because there is some fighting but an amazing book.

really good submitted by jhaberich on June 19, 2020, 10:12am This is an exciting book, I like it. About secret aliens that have to hide form evil aliens. The other books in the series are good too.

Average but shows promise submitted by choichr on August 21, 2021, 4:10pm I am Number Four is a pretty typical YA book. Main character has powers. He has to fight to protect his race. A little bit of romance. Yadda yadda. I had pretty high expectations for this book but honestly I was kind of let down. I found the main character to be quite selfish and full of himself (and kind of stupid) which made me want to put the book down multiple times. I was expecting quite a lot of action throughout the book but nothing truly exciting happened until the last fifth of the book. With that being said, I think this series shows promise. With the introduction of new characters and with the plot picking up, I can see this series becoming something I would want to read.

Overall I would say this book is a 3/5 but I would recommend that you read it so that you could continue to read the rest of the series which is probably better than the first book.

Pretty good submitted by kathscot on July 4, 2022, 1:32pm I was expecting less given the reviews and the movie. The book is fast paced and interesting. John is much more believable than Bobby from the Pendragon series (very many plot similarities). I plan to read more of this series and I recommend this book.
