Cute book submitted by jszchen on August 19, 2011, 9:01am The Mercy Watson series is great. The books are very entertaining for both young and old. Finally something got my daughter interested in reading. Wish it did not take me so long to discover it. Mercy sure can get into trouble.

Perfect Transition Book From Readers to Chapter Books submitted by skcramer on July 15, 2013, 9:13pm Mercy, the beloved pet pig of Mr. and Mrs. Watson, loves nothing more than hot buttered toast, but all that delicious toast leads to trouble when Mercy’s extra weight causes the Watsons’ bed to crash partway through the floor, and now only Mercy – on the prowl for more toast – can save them. This first book in the Mercy Watson series offers plenty of over-the-top humor, and the glossy gouache illustrations perfectly capture that sense of fun with its energetic scenes and exaggerated expressions. Mercy herself is a charming heroine, rosy-cheeked and utterly adorable, and young children will feel safe amidst Mercy’s loving family. This beginning chapter book is an ideal selection for children making the transition between early readers and chapter books. The large print is a comfortable size for young readers while the 12 short chapters, between 4 and 8 pages each, will helps transitioning readers to gain confidence in negotiating chapters.

You'll want some buttered toast... submitted by marebear on July 22, 2013, 1:13pm After reading Mercy Watson, you'll probably want some buttered toast! Mercy is a pig who knows what she wants and it often inconveniences her neighbors! The characters of Eugenia and Baby Lincoln are sure to delight. These books are a treat! A great read-to-me chapter book for little ones and a great beginning series for read alone. Also, don't miss the audio versions!

Amazing submitted by peterflorence on August 28, 2014, 9:12am This book is so great and so funny.

Mercy Saves the Day submitted by Sara W on July 19, 2019, 8:24pm This books is pitch perfect. Kate DiCamillo is a brilliant writer and just nails the overall tone and the reactions of each character. She does so much with so few words and it's truly a joy to see it all come together. Can't wait for the next in the series.

Mercy the Hero submitted by smileforjd on July 23, 2019, 11:15am Kate Dicamillo is an amazing writer, I think we can all agree. This book is truly a work of art that the whole family will enjoy.

Butter toast! submitted by humann30 on August 4, 2020, 7:55pm This book is very cute. My kid likes it. I always want to eat a butter toast after reading this series.

Mercy Watson to the rescue submitted by maria.wyche on June 12, 2021, 4:22pm I liked it because it was funny, and not too complicated to read.

Mercy Watson submitted by berryrxna on July 16, 2021, 6:41pm Good book, and thank you for adding it!

Mercy Watson To The Rescue submitted by quynhssong on July 26, 2022, 7:18pm Hilarious, cute, and something you will remember for a looong time! I remember reading this when I was 4 years old with my dad before going to bed, and I still love this book. Recently, I thought of this series and decided to read it over FaceTime with my 6 year old cousin. She adores the series now, and even checks them out from her own local library in Maryland. I think all ages would love this book! Just beware, this IS a chapter book, so 3 year olds (for example) may get bored of all the words instead of pictures. There are some wonderful pictures of Mercy, though!

Very funny and random submitted by sumisood on August 13, 2023, 11:18pm Great for children!
