Fantasy book submitted by swarnalir on July 14, 2017, 1:58pm One of the best fantasy books I have read.

Amazing book submitted by singleka on June 15, 2018, 12:31pm I loved getting lost in this series. It’s a must read!

Loved it submitted by sbeegees on June 15, 2018, 6:55pm This book is amazing, totally worth reading!

A Deeper, Richer Fairytale submitted by ajstemp on July 5, 2018, 4:27pm For the most part, I really enjoyed this! The writing feels smarter and more beautiful than a lot of the fantasy in the YA world, and the plot feels like a refreshing twist on fairy tale themes — things like curses and romance and fairies. I would highly recommend it!

Pretty Good submitted by c_zhang on June 28, 2019, 12:36am This book was a good take on the fantasy genre. A lot of recent fantasy books are repetitive, but this one is interesting and engaging.

Court of Thorns and Roses submitted by swapna_reddy on August 9, 2019, 3:35pm It was a very interesting book and captures the readers attention

Great story with a few issues submitted by jessicampace on August 24, 2019, 3:20pm The writing (sentence structure, grammar,) is actually terrible, which is a shame because the story and romance are great. I also take issue with this being classified by the library as "teen" because there are some very explicit adult sex scenes in this and the rest of the series. People as young as 13 are "teens" and I certainly wouldn't want my 13 year old kid reading this. It needs to be filed under "young adult."

This is one of my favorite books! submitted by arader24 on June 13, 2021, 6:21pm I really love this series and this is a great start. It defiantly isn't a teen book. It has a lot of adult themes. New Adult is more accurate for this series.

First book in an incredible series submitted by ShanleyBelle on July 19, 2021, 5:38pm This book is amazing. It sucks you into a series, and is a twist on the classic Beauty and the Beast. A word to the wise-- don't try to predict what comes next. Read on!

Solid fairytale vibes submitted by Princess Cimorene on July 20, 2021, 10:39pm I love a good retelling and this one sucked me right in. I was thorougjly transported, which is what I want when I read fantasy.

Good fluffy read submitted by catlover17 on August 22, 2021, 10:10pm This book definitely doesn’t have too much depth, but it enjoyed it nonetheless. Great romance, fantastic actions scenes, I’m excited to get my hands on the next book. I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone under 13.

I love this book submitted by morganic11 on June 16, 2022, 1:07pm This is one of the best fantasy books I have read in a long time. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes this genre.

Read the second book! submitted by audreyhalversen on July 12, 2022, 10:39pm I agree with those that say this book is really a prequel to the second book in the series. It's also NOT as good as the second book, so if you weren't sure about this one, keep going! That said, I still thought this was pretty good in the world of sexy fantasy.

My Favorite Series submitted by Riawhitebell on July 23, 2022, 3:27pm This is my favorite series of all time, and I've read it all the way through at LEAST 5 times. The second book is my personal favorite, and it is definitely worth a read.

Read. This. Now. submitted by zbo919 on July 28, 2022, 9:50pm Read after a friend suggested it to me, and I couldn't put it down!! This book is fantasy meets beauty and the beast meets romance.

It’s truly become a phenomenon submitted by clk.9123 on August 21, 2022, 3:15pm A faerie-lore version of Beauty and the Beast, A Court of Thorns and Roses is an inventive re-telling that is entirely unique.*

I greatly enjoyed reading this. I did not realize when I started it that it was meant to resemble Beauty and the Beast, and it wasn't completely obvious to me until more than halfway through the book. To me, that is a good thing: it is a credit to the author, who can take a story and keep the main ideas the same but change the story entirely. Sarah J. Maas once again wowed me with this new series. I strongly suspect that she will become a forefront writer on the YA and New Adult fantasy scene. Very much looking forward to book #2.

While I believe this book seems like it is written for young adults/teens, I do believe it suits older teens (17+), and would be better placed in the New Adult genre. The main character is 19 years old, and the rest of the characters are older as well. I feel that the themes and romance errs on the side of New Adult and Adult. Note, that it is not wholly graphic, but more intense than a typical teen/young adult novel would be. Although it is being published by Bloomsbury Children's, as a 23 year old I am skeptical of it being written for younger teens, and as a librarian I will suggest that this not be classified in the Teen section.

My favorite book! submitted by lemontea557 on June 13, 2023, 6:40pm I first read this book a few years ago and feel in love with it and soon picked up the rest of the series (which is also amazing). This is the best series I have ever read. I recommend it to everyone but do say that there is some intense romance.

Vivid colors, scenes, and some violence in the end. submitted by alynnayotte on June 20, 2023, 5:11pm I didn't have enough experience in the fantasy world to truly enjoy the last section of this book. I was looking for more romance and less giant worms (spoiler?). Outside of that, their world building was wonderful and I enjoyed it. Can't wait to read more of them!

Really enjoyable adult fantasy submitted by tkuz5 on July 12, 2023, 6:41pm I really enjoyed this book! I read it super fast and breezed through the entire series and am now hooked on all Sarah Maas series!!

Decent start submitted by blancharddana on July 17, 2023, 7:40am An OK start to a great series, the first book gets going a little bit slowly but by the end I was enraptured with this world!

SJM is a queen submitted by Ghutton88 on July 20, 2023, 10:50pm I will never stop recommending this series unfortunately book one is a little rough but book 2 is amazing

Great Series; Definitely Young Adult or Older submitted by Neuhoffinator on June 14, 2024, 11:40am Loved this series! Kept me engaged throughout every book. Every book gets spicier than next.

ACOTAR great starter for fantasy submitted by evelinayaw on June 19, 2024, 1:39pm Sarah J Maas is a phenomenal writer, and this is the perfect first book of hers to start with! Hopefully this book will get you hooked into the full series and then you can continue on to her other series, which take place in the same multiverse!

Pretty good book, great series submitted by sellis612 on June 28, 2024, 3:40pm The series is incredible and while the book does a good job of getting it set up, it definitely isn't the best so keep reading!

Pretty good for fantasy submitted by andmag25 on June 28, 2024, 5:43pm I am a non-fiction girl, but was looking for something different. This book was good enough to keep my attention and I may read the others in the series.

Great intro to fantasy! submitted by steph11624 on July 1, 2024, 12:00pm This is the first fantasy book I have read in a while and I really liked it!

Worth the read! submitted by mscheich on July 2, 2024, 1:52am Not a huge fantasy reader & this was the first fantasy series I picked up. Kept my interest & a relatively quick read!

Ok start but definitely read the next one submitted by Bethybeth07 on July 2, 2024, 8:33pm I didn’t *love* this book but had many friends recommend the series. I almost stopped reading multiple times but kept going. The book was fine. All I can say is if this one let you down, READ THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES

Got me back into reading fantasy submitted by kiara_bautista on July 13, 2024, 10:51pm A great way to get back into reading fantasy. A lovely romantasy with a strong female lead and fun world building.

This sparked my love of reading again. submitted by jaybroy on July 16, 2024, 5:36pm Before reading this series, I hadn't read a book besides for college in possibly years. I used to be a voracious reader, but I lost interest when YA was too young for me but adult fantasy seemed daunting and full of 2000-page epics. This was the perfect series to get me back into it. Don't get me wrong--this book isn't perfect. It's full of cliches and tropes that I now recognize can be annoying to avid readers. But if you're looking for a fun fantasy romance series that can help you learn to devour books by the light of a flashlight under your bedsheets at 3am again, this might be the one for you!

100/5 submitted by Jooyeon on August 2, 2024, 9:33pm Great book. Okay, scratch that. The BEST book. I cannot express just how well written this book is, from the amazing character development to the engaging plot. Unlike other people, I think that this is one of the best beginnings of a series I have ever read. Once you read the rest of the series, though, you might (I am not assuming anything) consider this book to be not developed (or spicy…) enough compared to the others, and in some ways I do agree with that. (Of course, this might have to do with a certain romantic twist in book two that makes this first book unbearable.) However, after rereading it several times, I have found that yes, this book is ABSOLUTELY worth rereading, and I will always enjoy that final twist at the end, along with the true ending.

ACOTAR submitted by emiam on August 19, 2024, 2:19am I can see why people recommend this, I enjoyed it and am looking forward to the second book that I hear is even better. The twists kept me guessing which I love.

It gets better submitted by schweiml on August 23, 2024, 3:42pm Honestly, this book sucks. The main character (Feyre) is obnoxious. BUT if you stick with it, the series gets so much better!

Eh submitted by lagypin on August 23, 2024, 3:48pm honestly this book is not great. The series is lit though. Suck it up through this boring slow book, and you're in for a treat in book two.
