Fun to read submitted by eckard619 on July 7, 2017, 2:26pm I liked this book. It made me think a lot about body image and the beauty/diet industry. The story was very interesting in the beginning, and got a little unrealistic towards the end. I'd still recommend it!

Fun, Subversive submitted by purplewaves on June 16, 2019, 11:31pm Overall, Dietland is a neat book. I think it's a perfect introduction for people, especially fat women, who are just starting to learn about body positivity and its roots in fat liberation politics. (Overall, it's a gentle introduction to a more leftist way of thinking about the world and its power structures.) I would be very interested in a Muslim perspective on the book, as the main theme is "misogyny" and Islam is a recurring minor theme. I'd say it's a good beach read with an interesting plot.

Dietland novel submitted by a2sue on July 21, 2019, 4:35am The novel Dietland was a nice change of pace, telling a story from a larger woman's point of view. I'd like to see more of this!
