Equally Funny and Fascinating submitted by emjane on July 1, 2015, 5:50pm Teaming up with a sociologist was genius on behalf of Aziz Ansari. The mix of data and jokes hits just the right note, and for anyone who has experienced courtship in the last ten years (or anyone interested in how it developed) would find items of interest in the book. A little more on international courtship would have been welcome-- Ansari touches on it, which sparks interest, but leaves it mostly unexplored.

Relevant and Interesting submitted by eapearce on July 31, 2015, 10:13am I loved how Modern Romance combines funny anecdotes and Ansari's signature humor with real, interesting, and relevant data gathered by both Ansari and NYU sociologist Eric Klinenberg. It truly was a brilliant idea for the two to collaborate. Modern Romance covers a wide range of the trails, tribulations, and results of dating in the modern age including the various options for online dating (and the experiences of those who have tried it), texting etiquette, how dating differs in various countries, and how technology has affected both our ability to cheat... and our ability to find out about it. I thought this book was funny and perfectly timed. I was a little concerned at first that it would contain too much "dating advice"--and there certainly were some tips and suggestions--but it was much more of an analysis and commentary than a self-help book. I'd highly recommend this to readers of all ages, whether you're dating in the modern world or not!

very funny submitted by bookher on July 13, 2016, 1:51pm Very funny book just as I would expect from Aziz Ansari. Very entertaining.

Hilarious Insightful Read! submitted by zixyxuan on July 20, 2017, 10:51am First of all, I absolutely LOVE Aziz! I have completed watching both Master of None and Parks and Recreation, so I might be a little biased.

Even as a millennial, I still found this book to be incredibly insightful. I love how Aziz decided to broach the topic of dating while trying to integrate his humor into sociology data and his personal narrative. I also really enjoyed how many food references he made throughout the book...except that it made me really crave ramen.

By far, my favorite part of the book was when he looked at different dating cultures around the world. It really emphasized to be that the dating culture in America is honestly not as bad as it could be. Maybe Japan and Argentina men should mingle more and figure out a good balance for how to approach women. I wish he could have focused on going to more places and then comparing it to different rural environments. The overview of dating culture in Paris was like three pages!

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book even though I took a mini break to finish some other books. Highly recommend to people of all ages!

If you're wondering what dating is like in the modern age... submitted by sVfGI7Glt2pz7GZgVB90 on July 23, 2020, 1:16am The book offers much more than hilarious anecdotes with observations in Aziz’s voice. It presents the results of a statistically significant in depth sociological examination covering the dating patterns and behavior of thousands of individuals around the world. Truly insightful.

Fun and interesting submitted by jaromatorio on July 24, 2020, 12:00pm Of course this book is hilarious (Aziz Ansari is a delight!) but I didn't expect to learn as much as I did about the science, sociology, and psychology behind modern love around the world!
