Beautiful submitted by keldan315 on July 7, 2017, 10:37pm Pema Chodron has an incredible talent for taking thousands of years of intricate, complex Buddhist philosophy and turning it into funny, approachable, intuitive perspectives that anyone can appreciate and grow from. This text nicely balances the secular with the theological without losing the down-to-earth humor and ease that Chodron's writing offers.
A title that hits home

Chodron’s voice and presence are so real. She’s not going to pat you on the back and say, “There, there, dear.”
But her understanding of how adversity first calls for acceptance and second, for courage to keep walking forward.
I’ve had my copy 20+ years. I’ve pulled it off the shelf even when I’m not in a terrible place but just to remember her gentle, real human being presence. I have a bookmark at a story of her walking toward a temple with two monks when vicious dogs come charging. Chodron and one monk run away; the other monk runs toward the dogs!
Important submitted by LauraMarie on August 8, 2020, 9:24am What a powerful reminder of the importance of experiencing our feelings and emotions (all of them!), treating ourselves and others with kindness and compassion. This is a book that calls to be re-read again and again!
Classic Chodron submitted by emileeione on August 29, 2020, 8:14pm This was one of the first Pema Chodron books I read. Highly recommend it.
