Awesome book submitted by kkellis on July 20, 2018, 9:00pm This book was my introduction to the world of Anne McCaffrey - I read it as a sophomore in high school and was hooked. Dragonflight is the first book introducing the planet of Pern, and the wonderful dragons (and people) that inhabit it. Highly recommend!

The luster is fading submitted by kaymbre on June 29, 2025, 9:19am Dragonflight is a book I’ve returned to many times—the first time over 40 years ago. I still enjoy the world, the dragons, and the sense of wonder that first drew me in. That said, rereading it now, I see it with different eyes. You can tell the author was still figuring things out—there are noticeable inconsistencies within the book and across the trilogy. What stood out more this time, though, were some troubling scenes involving physical violence within so-called “loving” relationships. It’s a reminder of how our perspectives evolve over time, even with stories we’ve cherished for decades.
