"Thanks to Connor, Lev, and Risa, and their high-profile revolt at Happy Jack Harvest Camp, people can no longer turn a blind eye to unwinding. Ridding society of troublesome teens and, in the same stroke, providing much-needed tissues for transplant might be convenient, but its morality has finally been brought into question. However, unwinding has become big business, and there are powerful political and corporate interests that want to see it not only continue, but expand, allowing the unwinding of prisoners and the impoverished. Cam is a teen who does not exist. He is made entirely out of the parts of other unwinds. Cam, a 21st century Frankenstein, struggles with a search for identity and meaning, as well as the concept of his own soul, if indeed a rewound being can have one. When a sadistic bounty hunter who takes "trophies" from the unwinds he captures starts to pursue Connor, Risa and Lev, Cam finds his fate inextricably bound with theirs"-- Provided by publisher.

Outstanding book & series for high schoolers submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on August 9, 2016, 9:44pm I'm writing this review after finishing the whole series, so I'm having a little trouble keeping the story lines of each individual book straight, but I know that I felt that each book deserved 4.5 to 5 stars, and the series as a whole definitely gets 5 stars for me.

This second installment moves us past the "isn't rebellion glorious" image that first books often present (though this series does that less than most). It shows fame being less than desirable as the main characters deal with others' perceptions of them as "the one to follow," "the one to admire," "the one to squelch," or "the one to defeat." Cam, a creation made entirely of "rewound" parts, is particularly fascinating. He seemed to old to me, but the questions his existence raises are profound.

Outstanding series, though not for the younger YA set. I wouldn't recommend it under high school. It's quite disturbing, though worth the read for older YAs and any & all adults.

Fantastic submitted by mrajraspn08 on August 19, 2018, 3:07pm I LOVE this series. This book introduces Cam, my favorite character, who's very existence creates questions about life and soul. Neal Shusterman writes such thought-provoking works, and this series is one of his best.

Unwholly submitted by i'm a blobfish on June 15, 2019, 7:33pm Out of the Unwind series, I disliked this book. I think I didn't enjoy having Cam in it mostly. A humanlike being made of pieces of different minds. He may be created to be the best at everything but in my mind, he is nothing by himself. With the mind of a child he wants all but really owns none. I don't know but I disliked his twisted personality and I mostly skipped parts of the book where he appeared. Although, if you are into those kinda characters, you'll probably like him. The story plot is still pretty good, although I thought it slowed down a lot to introduce him although he didn't really further the story.
