Pretty adorable submitted by marielle on August 5, 2011, 6:52pm This book is really adorable. It stars September, a 12 year-old girl, who is whisked away into Fairyland on a quest to defeat the great and terrible (or possibly not) Marquess. There she meets A-through-L, a Wyvery (half Wyvern, half library) and embarks on great or terrible adventures, including but not limited to circumnavigating Fairyland in a ship of her own making.

The writing style of the book is very whimsical, and the chapter art is great. If you enjoyed this book you would also likely enjoy The Forgotten Beasts of Eld which has a similar writing style and themes.

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland... submitted by Fevvers - STAR473 on August 11, 2016, 1:27pm The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland In A Ship Of Her Own Making says quite a lot about itself and its main character right in the title. This is about September, a willful and resourceful girl dissatisfied with her life in Omaha, who leaps at the chance to have an adventure in Fairyland. The storytelling is refreshingly irreverent and practical and hits hard emotional truths. There is also satire and wordplay, in the tradition of Lewis Carroll. There is menace and magic - two things that should definitely be included in Fairyland. The characters are unique and fun and rounded. I found the voice of the omniscient narrator on the twee side to begin with, but eventually came to like it.

A great read, especially recommended for fans of Alice In Wonderland, and writers such as Robin McKinley and Patricia McKillip.

Memorable and whimsical submitted by Princess Cimorene on July 22, 2020, 1:45am Alice in Wonderland has always been one of my favorite books because of the whimsical, dreamlike, and clever fantasy in it, and this book is very much in the same vein. It's very easy to get swept up in this story and I love the twist at the end so very much.
