Unexpected and moving
submitted by gpapp on July 20, 2022, 4:53pm
A book of gratitude poems could easily turn maudlin, or sentimental. This does not, however. Gay's direct voice, not shying away from the vernacular, is so engaging that you can't help but be swept up. And the combination of profound and small, unexpected gratitudes are so relatable.
