Shipped off to work at his grandmother’s odd bed-and-breakfast for the summer, Scrub finds himself knee-deep in an old house filled with vacationing aliens. Dealing with these strange creatures—and keeping them secret from a group of bullies, a nosy sheriff, and an inquisitive girl—gives Scrub a summer he never could have imagined. Smith’s fast-paced storytelling, complemented by detailed description of the aliens, propel Aliens on Vacation beyond its clever premise and into the realm of a great children’s book.

Highly recommended. Enjoyable for all ages, but particularly for those in sixth- eighth grade.
