A Robot Story that's not REALLY a robot story submitted by nektonic on June 21, 2016, 5:57am My son (5) loves robots. I do not. I love Peter Brown. I thought, "Okay...okay.....I can probably stomach this." It's about a robot, but it's really about nature, survival, parenting, what it means to be alive. Each chapter is like a small story. It's well crafted. There are neat illustrations. My son loved it. I loved it. My son is hoping there is a sequel.
Sweet Story, Questionable Ending submitted by mansii on July 19, 2016, 7:26pm Sweet story about how kindness can turn enemies into friends. Great for reading out loud. The ending was somewhat violent which took me by surprise and didn't fit well with the rest of the book.
A captivating adventure! submitted by Monackie on June 17, 2019, 5:04pm I read this aloud to my kids (5 and 7) and we were all on the edge of our seats. I loved seeing Roz transform throughout the book. It has a great educational quality as it teaches about animal adaptations, instincts, survival, and more. Roz will tug on your heartstrings and keep you laughing and entertained.
Great First Chapter Book submitted by Nataliemadams on August 1, 2020, 7:49pm My 6 yr olds teacher read this to the classroom and he talked about it everyday. Really got him interested in chapter books.
Good book submitted by Mila Hunsinger on June 15, 2021, 10:13am I really enjoyed this book. It was sweet, and even though the story was simple, it was really beautiful. I do agree that the ending was kind of violent, and it did not fit very well.

A Heartwarming Read submitted by ksullivan on August 15, 2022, 10:45am The Wild Robot is a middle-grade novel by Peter Brown that encapsulates nature, technology, and the mysterious future in a book. Roz is a curious robot who lands on an island when her package floats from the shipwrecked boat onto a beach of an island untouched by humanity. After a surprise encounter with bears, she is forced to hide in the trees to survive. As she learns to blend in to the world, she realizes the secret to the language of the animals. Once she befriends them (as any good robot would do), she acquires a gosling who becomes her adopted son, Brightbill, and has many other adventures on the island, though, after a devastating Winter and a beautiful Spring, her past comes back to haunt her. The ending is slightly violent, but there is in fact a sequel, The Wild Robot Escapes, that provides a heart-racing tale a happy ending to a great series. Worth the read, definitely!
Excellent Read-Aloud submitted by corywill86 on June 9, 2023, 8:29pm I loved reading this to my then 7-year-old and he loved it too. The story is heartwarming and lovely, ending on a sad note.
I love this book! submitted by Helengio on June 11, 2023, 6:10pm It's the 2nd best book I've ever read. I am seven years old.
Heart warming story submitted by stynesev on June 12, 2023, 11:08am This book is entertaining and so sweet. Read aloud to 5 and 7 year olds and they loved it.
So wholesome submitted by chowcy on August 6, 2023, 2:14pm I'm an adult and I loved this book. It's great for kids too. The story explores nature and what it means to be alive. Is family determined by blood or the connections we choose to make? Great story of community within a slightly dystopian setting
A fantastic book submitted by kyliemo on June 18, 2024, 4:16pm My children (6 and 8) and I read this story together after hearing it was going to be made into a movie. What a fantastic book! It’s action-packed, funny, and poignant, and also touches on several important themes for young readers (the idea of “chosen family,” adoption, and true friendship, to name a few). The illustrations (sometimes full page spreads) occurred just enough to hold my youngest’s interest. We enjoyed this one from start to finish!
this book was so good submitted by elizatsou on June 21, 2024, 5:47pm In my opinion the storyline was very creative and it wasn't like any book I had ever read before.
Wild robot submitted by VanCancue on July 4, 2024, 4:17pm This my favorite book, I’ve read it 5 times! And the rest of the series! There’s going to be a movie!
Good, even for an adult submitted by linditherese_25 on July 15, 2024, 8:23pm My 10 year old nephew told me I need to read this book, so I did and thoroughly enjoyed it. He was excited when I finished it and we were able to talk about it. :)

Classroom Read submitted by Ellie Lawrence-Lupton on August 10, 2024, 3:00pm My second grade class read this, and everyone loved it.
Amazing submitted by manz on December 17, 2024, 2:52pm One of my fave chapter books of all time! I have been recommending it to so many kids, adults, and as a family read aloud. IT IS SO GOOD! It has a robot, suspense, adventure, peril, animals, the great outdoors, found family, sadness, joy, and humor. Thank you, Peter Brown!
