Two Thumbs Up submitted by Avliss on June 18, 2016, 7:51pm Absolutely amazing. It's innovative, creepy, and heart-rending all at the same time without straying into the land of melodrama. The illustrations in particular lend to the haunting atmosphere.

Beautiful submitted by srahman on July 29, 2016, 9:42pm This was a very amazing book for me and extremely emotional for me b/c being the baby I am, I cried a couple times and I just loved the monster so much and I kept on flipping pages!

Beautiful imagery submitted by shelbynbarney on June 30, 2017, 10:49am I loved the imagery in this book--both the illustrations and the imagery from the prose. It's well written and lovely.

Poignant story about grief submitted by irksit on June 23, 2018, 6:57pm A beautifully written and illustrated book. The storytelling is excellent. A quick and very touching read.

A Monster Calls submitted by kassafrass on June 21, 2019, 9:40am I was skeptical about this book because of the somewhat trite story being set up. But I was proven completely wrong, and was very moved by this book--it was powerful, uniquely written, and memorable, with some strong takeaways. I finished it wanting to read more by the same author, I was very impressed. The illustrations are also by Jim Kay, who does the illustrations for the new illustrated Harry Potter books, so loved that too!

Amazing submitted by c_zhang on June 28, 2019, 2:27pm Moving and beautifully written. The imagery was vivid also. Very emotional.

A Monster Calls submitted by lstorc on July 23, 2019, 10:45pm This is a great movie for understanding loss and grief. It is too dark for very young kids.
