5 stars submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on August 12, 2018, 10:39am A late elementary/ middle school book that is character-driven about a dark-skinned Black girl who is bullied and trying to fit in. A new teacher changes the school dynamics, and this throws the whole plan. An excellent book for discussing friendships, race, peer pressure, personal background of others that we don't know/see, and responsibility. Well written, and another of the kind of books that helps a reader look at the world from someone else's eyes.
Excellent story! submitted by ahlalejini on July 21, 2022, 9:18am Check out this one and then read The Life I'm In which was written 20 years later- both great!
Uncomfortable submitted by Xris on June 23, 2024, 9:18am Uncomfortable situation Maleeka is in, with kids who aren't really her friends.
