A Great book submitted by Aidan Drabant on June 20, 2017, 5:54am This book is extremely well written and tells the story in a great way for 5th grade students and middle school students.

Asks hard questions with great care submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on July 15, 2017, 9:48am A middle grade reader that addresses the question "What happened to the Twin Towers? And if I wasn't born yet, why should I care?"

Telling young people about the attacks on the United States that happened on September 11, 2001 can be difficult for those who lived through it. Young people have no context for adults' emotions or for the enormity of that day. This book tells the story of a 10 year old girl on the 15-year anniversary of the Twin Towers attack who lives in Brooklyn but is *completely* unaware of this history. She starts a new school that will be learning about it this year, and becomes friends with a boy whose father is fighting in Afghanistan and with a Muslim girl. Together they negotiate their own and their city's history in a thoughtful and respectful way, searching for personal and communal meaning.

This book was outstanding. It handled a difficult issue with sensitivity and care. It would be an excellent book to read with your middle schooler (or maybe mature 4th grader) as a way to open discussions about why people would hurt our country and how we come together again.
