Fun fantasy--not deep. submitted by maryragland on June 18, 2007, 2:13pm A great fluff read. A little scattered, but nice adn lyrical, like Neverwhere. Not as good, in my humble opinion, though.

A true fairy tale submitted by pkooger on May 9, 2012, 10:56am Dark and dangerous, whimsical and lyrical, magical and violent, this is what fairy tales used to be. Remember, they came from a time when people left offerings for the house spirits and childbirth was life-threatening. Neil Gaiman writes a charming story that perfectly matches the fairy tales of old. The illustrations of Charles Vess exquisitely capture the magic and menace of the worlds of Faerie. Highly recommended for mature fairy tale fans.

Stardust submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on July 30, 2013, 4:18pm "Stardust" is a fantastic tale about a man who thinks he can force women do to his will and instead learns that love is more important. Everyone in the novel learns the error of trying to control others or hold power over them.

Tristran is the son of a human father, with whom he lives in the town of Wall, and a fairy princess who visited the town that borders on her lands. At the age of 18, Tristran tries to get the village beauty, Victoria, to marry him by promising to bring her a fallen star. He enters into the supernatural realm of Fairy and finds a fallen star personified and takes her prisoner. Of course, others are also trying to capture the star for the power they can get from her. Meanwhile, the Fairy king's sons are fighting each other to the death for the crown.

I highly recommend this very interesting story, as I do all of Gaiman's books.

SPOILER ALERT: The book has a happy ending in which Tristran's mother escapes captivity and the rightful king takes the throne.

Beautiful and bittersweet submitted by selkielass on July 17, 2014, 9:23pm Charles Vess' illustrations are the perfect accompaniment to Gaiman's bittersweet adult fairy tale.
