This is a great story about a cross-section of very interesting women characters and the connections between them. The plot is developed in a way that keeps the flow really interesting! Well done!

If you have the chance, after you read the book watch the first season of the HBO series as well. I usually much prefer books over tv/movie adaptations, but this one was just as good as the book.

Meh submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on August 7, 2018, 6:14pm Oh, looky, another book about wealthy white women and their perfect/ not perfect children and fights at school. How tired is this trope? OTOH, there’s abuse and DV (domestic violence) and a murder mystery and Moriarty writes this book overall quite brilliantly, which saves it. It was easy to read and pulled me in, but the world of wealthy white women and how hard their mommy-hood is just doesn’t hold much water for me, even (especially?) as an escape.

Don't get me wrong, I love the show. The cast does an amazing job, but there are so many little details that you miss on screen. The book is an easy and extremely pleasurable read. Great summer reading and book club reading. The story is woven so delicately and skillfully. The characters are sympathetic, realistic, and hilarious. I highly recommend.

It definitely helped that all of the characters were somehow engaged in each other's stories. I also appreciated the messiness of each of the character's lives. There was no perfect character, a big flaw in many big titles.

Fun twists and turns submitted by Melissa Stone on June 11, 2022, 11:52pm This was a very good summer read. This book is fun to read with a lot of plot twists and turns that keep the reader engaged. Its fun to see how the characters are connected. Some of the characters in the HBO limited series act a little different than they do in the book so I would recommend reading this first for comparison.
