"A new vision of the future from Kim Stanley Robinson, the New York Times bestselling author of science fiction masterworks such as the Mars trilogy, 2312, and Aurora. The waters rose, submerging New York City. But the residents adapted and it remained the bustling, vibrant metropolis it had always been. Though changed forever. Every street became a canal. Every skyscraper an island. Through the eyes of the varied inhabitants of one building Kim Stanley Robinson shows us how one of our great cities will change with the rising tides. And how we too will change"-- Provided by publisher.

Another Micro-History of the Future submitted by severian on August 23, 2021, 7:19pm This is another classic Robinson -- a huge cast of characters coming together at a historical moment that doesn't seem obvious to anyone until it is. I read this one before his other climate fiction, mostly so I could think about what's happening to the planet without being immediately overwhelmed by how grim things sometimes look. So, call this an optimistic climate change novel (not because the change isn't bad, but because people keep doing their thing no matter what).
In 2140, the dream of New York is still alive submitted by copystar on June 24, 2023, 4:46pm The spirit of the people of New York is still alive in 2140, despite the fact that so much of the city is submerged in water. This is not a character-driven novel. The book is long and the chapters are short. It's enjoyable, and yet oddly dry in spite of all the water. The geomorphology of NYC features heavily as well as the machinations of shorting banks.
