"Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods, on the winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour, with the woman sitting inside--the woman who was killed. She's been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It's a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm. Her husband would be furious if he knew she'd broken her promise not to take that shortcut home. And she probably would only have been hurt herself if she'd stopped. But since then, she's been forgetting every little thing: where she left the car, if she took her pills, the alarm code, why she ordered a pram when she doesn't have a baby. The only thing she can't forget is that woman, the woman she might have saved, and the terrible nagging guilt. Or the silent calls she's receiving, or the feeling that someone's watching her..."-- Provided by publisher.

A Must Read Psychological Thriller! submitted by mickplu on June 17, 2018, 10:15am I approached this with some caution as I had loved her first novel and was wary that the second novel wouldn’t come close to approaching its appeal. However, this book also kept me on the edge of my seat as I tried in vain to determine the true culprit(s). The characters are well developed and the tension builds and builds. There’s an interesting use of text messages to develop the later plot and there’s a nice unexpected reveal in the last 6 pages. All in all, this is definitely a must read for fans of psychological thrillers.

Excellent thriller submitted by mlabarre on July 26, 2018, 6:11pm If you like psychological thrillers, you will like this! Quick read.

Gas-lighting submitted by hiker15 on August 23, 2020, 12:26pm If you don't know what gas-lighting is and want to read a perfect example of being gas-lit, just read this book. Definitely an engaging thriller that you will want to read from start to finish without putting down the book.

fantastic thriller submitted by nmaas on July 20, 2022, 2:04pm This book was fantastically frustrating! I agree with the review about it being a perfect example of gaslighting hahaha
